From Brighton take the A259 to Rottingdean. The car parking area just north of the A259 next to the White Horse Hotel which overlooks the beach.

The nearest train station is Brighton. Bus services 12, 14, 27, 47 and 712 come in from Brighton. The Undercliff walk from Rottingdean to Brighton is a nice walk in summer. With a little luck you get soaked by a wave.

Rottingdean Beach

The beach is quieter than Brighton and is backed by high chalk cliffs. It has been formed by recent coastal defense work with shingle between rock groynes. At low tide rock pools appear and provide great fun. Bring a change of clothes as you probably get wet.

Lifeguard cover is provided during the school summer holidays from 10:00 - 18:00. They fly a warning flag when the sea is unsuitable for bathing. The beach is cleaned regularly. It is manually picked for litter daily in the summer. Bins are available.
